Tercentenary of the Shabad Guru – One Way to Celebrate

What is a good way for me to commemorate the Tercentenary (1708-2008) of the installation of Guru Granth Sahib as my eternal guide ?

Where the externalization of celebrations has its own place; Gurpurabs, Melaas, Yatraas, Seminars & Speeches, I was looking for quite way to celebrate the important occasion very internally, very personally.

  I realized…..how unaccomplished a Sikh I am, I have not even read or heard from the great Guru Sahib even once; leave aside contemplating the meaning… I know there are many unfortunate, hungry souls like me who love the Guru,  long for him, but could never afford the time or privilege to hear the Guru Sahib in a tuned state – all of the infinite wisdom afforded to us in a tangible form.

So on this occasion, I created my own little goal. I would listen to the entire Guru Granth Sahib. After all Guru Nanak has given a great important to listening to the Shabad in Japji Sahib:

suniai mukh saalaahan ma(n)dh ||
Even the lowly like me could learn to praise Waheguru, if I listened.

And then someone sent me this video link of Akal Academy students reciting Sehaj Paatth (in progress) to commemorate the tercentenary. Just what I needed!!!!!

Shuddh Path in a speed that I can understand,  each word of the Guru Sahib clearly uttered. Melodious and beautiful recitation…There are even captions so I can read and follow along.

I couldn’t help but share this with the cyber Sangat. I know there are many like me who can benefit from this seva.

I would also like to invite others to share  their way of celebrating this wonderful occasion, in the hope to find more treasures like these……

Wahe Guru Ji Ka Khalsa,

Wahe Guru Ji Ki Fateh!
