Wherever Sikhs have made a home, the Gurdwara has been at the heart of community life.
It is where we come together in Sangat, listen to Gurbani, share Langar, celebrate, learn, serve and connect across generations. And whether we are travelling somewhere new, moving to another city, or simply trying to learn more about our Sikh heritage, finding a Gurdwara should be easy.
Today, SikhNet is taking the first step towards making that possible.
We are excited to introduce the first public release of the Worldwide Gurdwara Directory, beginning with California and Delhi.

One place to begin your search
Information about Gurdwaras can be surprisingly difficult to find. Details may be spread across websites, social media, maps and community networks, and the information available can vary enormously from one Gurdwara to another.
The Worldwide Gurdwara Directory is being built to bring that information together.
From one place, users will ultimately be able to discover Gurdwaras around the world, find those near them, explore individual Gurdwara profiles and learn more about the services, history and spiritual life connected with each location. The platform has also been designed to incorporate information such as amenities and access to live or recorded Kirtan as it develops.
But building a genuinely useful worldwide directory is something we believe should happen with the Sangat, not simply for the Sangat.
That is why we are beginning with two very different but deeply meaningful Sikh communities.
Delhi: where history lives
Delhi's Gurdwaras carry some of the most profound chapters of Sikh history.
Gurdwaras including Sis Ganj Sahib, Bangla Sahib and Rakab Ganj Sahib connect us directly with the lives, sacrifices and legacy of the Gurus. These are not simply historic landmarks. They are places where Sikh history happened and where Sangat continues to gather today.
Beginning in Delhi gives users an opportunity not only to locate these Gurdwaras, but to discover the heritage connected with them.
California: Sikh roots carried across an ocean
California tells another important part of the Sikh story: what happens when a community carries its faith and traditions somewhere new.
In 1912, Sikh immigrants established a Gurdwara in Stockton, creating what would become an important centre for Sikh life in North America. From those early communities grew generations of Sikh families, Gurdwaras and traditions across California.
Today, California has a vibrant Sikh community and a rich Gurdwara heritage of its own.
Together, Delhi and California represent two sides of the story we ultimately hope this directory can tell: the places where Sikh history was made and the places where Sikh communities have continued to build it.
This is only the beginning
This first release is deliberately a beginning.
Over the coming weeks, we will be listening to feedback, highlighting individual Gurdwaras and inviting communities to help us strengthen the information and stories represented in the directory.
From there, we will gradually expand into new regions as we work towards a truly worldwide resource. The planned rollout will introduce new regions in stages, while giving the Sangat opportunities to contribute photos, historical information and local knowledge along the way.
Because no central team can know every story of every Gurdwara.
The people who know those stories are the people who built them, grew up in them, served in them and continue to call them home.
