gurjeetKaur (12K)London, 10 Sep-At a glamorous awards event held at the prestigious House of Lords in London Dr Gurjeet Kaur Bains was awarded for her contribution to society as Editor in Chief of The Sikh Times and Eastern Voice.

The event was hosted by Baroness Sandip Verma and organised by Indian Welfare Society. The award was presented by His Excellency High Commissioner of India, Nalini Surie, Anand Singh former senior minister for the congress party and the secretary of NRI Welfare Society, Gurvinder Singh.

“As a British Sikh woman this is a huge honor to be included along with other elite achievers throughout the globe, who truly exemplify the phenomenal achievements of Indians that have contributed to our global accomplishments.”

“I am indebted to the NRI Welfares Society and its commitment and foresight not only to encourage the future success of Indians but the ability to search for the mentors that have contributed in every field from medicine, sciences, technology and of course media.”

Gurjeet Kaur Bains was amongst the thirty global awardees. Her achievements include her role as the first women to chair the Institute of Asian Business, which is part of the largest Chamber of Commerce in Britain.

As CEO of Women of Cultures Gurjeet developed the British Asian Hafta that recognises the success and contributions of the Asian community to Britain. Baroness Sandip Verma is an Ambassador for British Asian Hafta.

Gurjeet is a proud mother, wife and has recently become a grandmother. She is also a non-executive director for the largest NHS Health Trust, University Hospital Birmingham.

Her latest success is as a governor of Birmingham Metropolitan college.
