Jan 06, 2016: WASHINGTON, D.C. (WKOW) –
One of the members of the Sikh community in Oak Creek attended President Obama's speech on gun control at the White House.

Mandeep Kaur was on her way to the gurdwara when a gunman opened fire inside the Sikh Temple in Oak Creek in 2012.

She says she believes the President is doing the right thing to try and reduce gun violence in the country.

“It's not that nobody could have their firearm,” said Kaur. “It's not that nobody could have their firearm. It's just the right thing to do to control the amount of firearms that are getting out in public and who's able to actually access those firearms.”

Six people were killed when a gunman opened fire inside the Sikh Temple in Oak Creek on August 5th, 2012.
