When I think of Guru Ram Das, I often think about him as a miracle worker and a most compassionate Guru. It is popularly known that on the birthday of Guru Ram Das, disciples can break the rules and pray for something they wouldn’t normally pray for - themselves.
In this shabad, Guru Ramdas ji expresses the feeling of pain from being separated from Waheguru. One day while I was singing along, I experienced the emotions as described and I began painting.

The day was warm, but not too hot. The sun shone clear over Amritsar and the minarets of the Akal Takht glinted over the walls of the Golden Temple complex walls. It was difficult to move.
Every year the Mexico City sangat has a Guru Ram Das weekend in the end of September. It is a weekend of sadhana, kirtan, gurdwara, Sikh studies, and lots of kundalini yoga. It is only natural that the 10th Lord of Miracles Tour in Honor of Guru Ram Das was inaugurated this year in Mexico City.
Guru Ram Das began his life as a humble orphan named Jetha. He used to sell wheat berries in the street near the home of the third Sikh Master, Guru Amar Das. One day, Guru Amar Das called the boy into see him. He saw the spirit of Jetha, his Light, his humility, service and love.
Among Sikhs there is a tragedy. They found the technology of spirituality and they have drowned themselves in the ocean of ego. That is what Sikhism is today.
September 20th, 2012 marks the beginning of the 10th Lord of Miracles tour and a decade of service and friendship with the global community. Each year, inspired by the grace and service of Guru Ram Das, we travel the world with a mission to uplift, heal, inspire, and connect with our brothers and sisters across the globe.
It is quite a change to see so much respect for their heritage and for the tribes that still exist in the country. It is a very spiritual culture and it may remind some North Americans of the Native American cultures throughout the U.S. and Mexico.
Our 4th city and country on this wonderful Lord of Miracles Tour in Honor of Guru Ram Das was La Paz, Bolivia. La Paz is a city which touches the heavens, resting amid the clouds at 14,000 feet in elevation.
It was a transformational experience for these women and most had tears in their eyes by the end of the class. To know that the ladies from our Sangat in Lima continue with this Seva of teaching these women is an inspiration and is very fortunate for the inmates. It was a great honor for us to visit the prison for all the great work that is being done there.
Chile is such a great country. It stretches several thousand miles from north to south on the Pacific side of the South American continent and only 90 miles east to west. Its eastern flank is the great Andes Mountain range that separates it from Argentina. It is a land forged by fire, earthquakes and volcanoes. And its shape? Like a chile pepper, of course.
For the past 20 years Mexico in its devotion always has a Guru Ram Das weekend once a year. This year the timing worked out that we can combine their celebration with the 9th Lord of Miracles Tour in Honor of Guru Ram Das. And a great celebration it was.

We have seen so much seva through the light of many people in San Salvador (the capital city of El Salvador). The Lord of Miracles Tour is defined by Guru Ram Das Ji's notion of seva, to serve humanity without discrimination whatsoever.
They are a well established organization that serves and serves. From teaching yoga to the city's business leaders to serving langar at many orphanages they are effective and well known. Their numerous seva projects have been so successful that they constantly are having people from all walks of life wanting to work with them.
For the past 5 years the Uruguayans would come to Argentina to participate in the Tour. With their expansion and prayer they requested this year to host the Tour. We were received with so much love and affection that by the time we had to leave, we regretted that it was just a two day visit.
The incredible food, culture, and music of the Argentines are matched by its smiles, spirit and passion for life. Argentina after the Second World War was the richest country because of its agricultural exports to the world. Still today it is a tremendous exporting nation, tourist destination and gastronomic delight!
Like Colombia and Bolivia, the police of Paraguay realize that yoga and breathing techniques are essential to maintaining themselves as not only police but also as human beings. Can you imagine the sight of hundreds of police meditating to "Puta Mata Ki Asis" in Spanish?
Our sangat in La Paz is a beautiful mixture of every aspect of Bolivian society. Their devotion to the Guru, the teachings of Yogi Bhajan and service to humanity is unparalleled. This sangat lives to serve.
The Lord of Miracles Tour in Honor of Guru Ram Das will be traveling to 12 cities in 10 countries throughout Central and South America: Peru, Bolivia, Chile, Paraguay, Argentina, Uruguay, Brasil, Colombia and El Salvador and Guatamala in Central America.

We had the privilege to visit three prisons for women and teach them Kundalini Yoga which included meditating on the shabad “Puta Mata Ki Asis”. For all of the women, hearing this shabad moved them so emotionally that there was not a dry eye in any of the prisons we visited.
This tour came from the inspiration of Siri Singh Sahib Bhai Sahib Harbhajan Singh Khalsa Yogiji.
Our 7th country on this marvelous Lord of Miracles Tour is Chile. This long narrow country [named after the green chile pepper because of its shape] extends from Peru in the north to the South Pole...
