EKKA BANEE EK GUR EKOO SHABAD VICHAAR || ( Mehalla Thejaa, Anng 646)

The contribution to human being of Satguroo Desmesh Pitta Guroo Kartaar Gobind Singh Jee is immeasurable. Only the translation and critical appreciations of His compositions in various languages will help humanity. The aim of the translator should not be the rendering of words and phrases only but to recreating of the sprit and atmosphere of the originals in the other language. No two languages express the same thing in the same manner.

Satguroo Desmesh Pitta Guroo Kartaar Gobind Singh Jee's compositions are written in many languages. This itself poses difficultly in attempting for a translator. This attempt is an arduous one which involves understanding, enkindle prem hee prem for Guroo Jee and Sikhism, concentration and diligence. There is a disparity in the way of expression and the idiom of two languages.

It would be interesting to throw light on one occurrence which dass personally experienced.

Dass was a train driver in early eighty's. Once a young, intelligent and highly educated in many languages whose background was from Sikh family, got coupled with dass for a week as a train guard, during night duties. This young man was a hard core communist and an atheist and had a habit of advertising his knowledge through discussions.

The train was stabled at 01:30 hours in the depot; another train was prepared for service at 05:20 hours. This gap between two trains was a heaven sent for dass to care for Amrit-velaa. The very first night dass took position (seats on the floor and a sheet over it) in a leading carriage to do Amrit-velaa whilst this young man took second carriage reading communist books.

Being a very cold morning this young man came into dass's carriage to ask for a cup tea as dass use to carry a steel flask of Soonf milk. At the time this kookar was reciting Akaal Ustath and Shastar Naam Malaa (Satguroo Desmesh Pitta Guroo Kartaar Gobind Singh Jee's Banee).
This young man sat on a seat not far away from dass. (he told dass later that when he heard the banee, his feet would not carry his weight towards dass and he collapsed onto a seat near dass)

Dass was about to start Sukhmanee Sahib when this young man had a semi- fit and started to roll over floor. Dass tended to this young man gave him cup of Soonf milk that he admired so much. We didn't discuss the incident in fear of embarrassment to this young man.

The second night when we stabled the train this young man requested to be in the same carriage, spread the newspaper on the floor near dass to listen to Amrit-velaa. He listened to Naam Simran and Banee intently. When dass read Shastar Naam Malaa he started to shout Vaaheguroo, Vaaheguroo, Vaaheguroo Vaaheguroo... at the top of his voice and went into semi- fit again. After few minutes he demanded that dass should recite Akaal Ustat and Shaster Naam Malaa again and again.... infact about five times. Our train was 20 minutes late into service we later found out that shunter was blamed for this delay being overslept.

On the third night surprisingly, when dass went to morning train dass found that this young man has collected dass's bag and prepared dass's position and this time he sat on the floor without newspaper considering himself part of a dirt....

Well, dass asked him what was happening to him, before the start of our Amrit-velaa that these are his words " This murakh didn't know that Naam is the biggest Sashter (weapon), I believed that the much needed, to sort out worldly problems, should be initiated from the barrel of the gun. Akal Ustast and Sashter Naam Malaa released me that one have to have this Sashter built inside one-self first, with prem all problems could be sorted out. The words of the Banee pierced my heart. I could not bear the words, this in-turn got me into high conscious state "

Being the master of many languages he understood Satguroo Desmesh Pitta Guroo Kartaar Gobind Singh Jee Banee much, much more then dass. He even explained much of the Banee to dass. Rest of the week we did our Amrit- velaa together.

Shortly, he left his job, after a year he came to Dass's house as a Gursikh.... Charnjit Singh Jee...decorated in Gur daa Banaa, Dumalaa uttering Chandee...

Finaly, Gursikhoo Pyaree Naamee Gurmukh Sakhee Sahalee Jeooooo.... if a Amrit-Velaa recitation of Naam Simran and Banee can change a hard cored communist and an atheist into Sikh in a flash...... then one have to realise the value and fruit of Amrit-Velaa....

Gursikhoo Pyaree Naamee Gurmukh Sakhee Sahalee Jeooooo... leave everything but care for your Amrit-Velaa. Dass, kookar lowest of low Thank Satguroo Jee that above occurrence has such an impact on two Couples that they are now caring for Amrit-Vellaa.

Gursikhoo Pyaree Naamee Gurmukh Sakhee Sahalee Jeooooo if you know someone who has difficulty in caring for Amrit-Velaa help one by just making a call and uttering.... Naamey sang jut pyariaa Naamey sang Jut... by doing such deeds your own Amrit-velaa will become solid.

Dass will make an attempt in future posts to translate Satguroo Desmesh Pitta Guroo Kartaar Gobind Singh Jee's Chandee... this inspiration has come from dearest Sevakh Jee ([email protected]) and thanks for sending Veer-rass kirtan tapes...
