The Rise of Khalsa to be screened at the Los Angeles NY International Film Festival on July 22nd.

'The Rise of Khalsa' is a 43 minute long documentary film which depicts how the Khalsa Panth was established in 1699 at Anandpur Sahib by the Tenth Guru of the Sikhs - Guru Gobind Singh. It shows the valliant struggle of sikhs to fight against Mughals. Khalsa lives to show the way of purity and simplicity and to fight against cruelty and injustice.

The film also focuses on detailing the great martial art called Gatka as performed by the Khalsa Sports Academy at Jalandhar. The great festival of Hola Mohalla and how the Nihang Sikhs celeberate this festival of colour is also shown beautifully in this film.

This film is directed by Jagmeet Samundari and produced by Baljeet Mannku. It will be screened at the New York International Film Festival in Los Angeles on 22 July at 6 pm, a must watch for every Sikh who is able to attend.

Congratulations! to Jagmeet and Baljeet for making a fine documentary. I would recommend every one to see it especially the younger generation. A great documentary to introduce the younger generation to Sikhism and what it stands for. In 43 minutes Jagmeet has captured the Sikh history in a concise but through manner. The visuals are excellent. Sikhs int he LA area should go for the screening of the documentary and lend support to the young and upcomming director and producer. I believe that the documentary has also been nominated for awards in couple of categories....... Do spread the word around. It is also a good opportunity for Sikhs to be recognized by the American public as a distinct religious group having their own identity. Manpreet Gahra, Esq.

Congratulations to the Panth! Congratulation to the Directors and Producers of the film. NYIFF is a prestigous Film Festival. LA sikhs please go and show your presence. Media is a very strong way to teach people about Sikhs. It's time that Sikhs pay attention to it. Time to support our upcoming directors. -New
